I would have gone with you
Into the depths of darkness, and beyond
To save you from the loneliness, the pain
Never knowing if it could have ended differently
To save your sons, your legacy.
You know I would
How my heart bleeds out to hear you say again
“I’m sorry.”
Can’t I steal away the cold and bitter vengeance
The liquid flame, the haunting memory?
And didn’t you already pay the werguild?
In killing rage, she tracked you down
Thiassi’s doom, you met her challenge
And she laughed in spite of rightful pain.
How is it fair, what they did to you?
How can they say it is right?
Now you, and not they, are scorned and mocked
Called traitor by those who claim love for your brother
Cast into the shadows, forgotten.
I would have gone with you
Down the spiraling roads of madness
If you’d have my company, if it’d ease your pain.
Against the tide of Ragnarok, there can be no victory,
Where blood and death and tears are everlasting legacy.

Bansid
I heard the lonely Bansid, cry
Calling ocean mist across the sky
I know in the ocean he will die,
When the wind begins to cry
And the moon to lie.
Oh darling, I cry for you,
On the cliffs I wretch
..
Oh darling, come home soon
So I join her wail,
Calling to the soul
Soon to be kept by the water
And I wonder if she knows,
What loss is.
I heard the lonely Bansid, cry
Calling ocean mist across the sky
I know in the ocean he will die,
When the wind begins to cry
And the moon to lie.
Oh darling, you are drowning,
In the fury of the sea,
Oh darling, I love you,
So I'll follow thee,
Throwing my heart to the sea,

Crossing
No part of the world I wanted
And yet I came to the Tree
The pain of my life, I shunned it
And yet I bore it for thee,
Seeking to understand you,
Struggling against the spear
Hurt and helplessly hanging
Nine nights that lasted years
Until I said yes to the suffering,
Allowed it to pierce my heart,
Thus making my final offering
Of the last thing that kept me apart,
For my desire to find you
Was greater than it all--
And I felt the spear pass through us
As the ropes give way, and I fall--
And realized the mystery
That we are one upon the Tree
That I am you, and you are me
And bound and free.

Ghost Stories
What once was wisdom,
Oral history learned over decades,
Is now become mere titillation;
Safehouse screams for shallow souls
Or multiplexed adrenal highs.
What once was veneration,
Hallowed for ancestral connection,
Is made over in Mammonite drag;
Branded, wrapped in orange
And marketed as sugar rush.
And yet in hidden corners
Some call the spirits quartered,
Yew tree truthful as ever was;
Pouring wine for the dread nobility,
Denying denial of the ghostly years gone by.

It's a dark poem for a dark theme... this one is set to the rather ominous "Screaming." It's been quite some time since I wrote it, so I don't have much to say about it except that the days are much brighter than this poem may make it seem.
